Google takes off advertisements from websites spreading fake news concerning the coronavirus. Furthermore, it will not allow this kind of fake news to appear as advertisements and could even withdraw all the money for advertisements from these websites.

This way, they are completing their already existing regulation of health related fake news. New directives will come into force on 18th August.
All statements contradicting the scientific agreement in terms of SARS-COV-2 are considered as fake news.
The regulation will not affect websites trying to dissipate fake news and those that are not spreading coronavirus conspiracy theory.
Popular websites are all fighting against the information chaos caused by the coronavirus. First, they banned non-governmental coronavirus advertisements for a short time. However, this ban was fast cancelled after a huge number of complaints. Besides, advertisements were removed from several YouTube videos, which is a measure already taken regarding similar sensitive topics. Mask advertising was banned as well due to the panic shopping at the beginning of the pandemic.
